Dieser goldene Astoria Safety ist wohl aus den 20er Jahren. Er ist in absolut neuwertigem Zustand, falls er überhaupt jemals benutzt worden ist. Keine Kratzer, Beulen o.ä. und dürfte voll funktionsfähig sein. Geschrieben habe ich damit nicht. Auf dem Clip ist er mit 585 gestempelt und trägt dort auch eine mir unbekannte Punze. Ein Markenname oder Firmenzeichen ist nicht zu finden. Das ist bei diesen Astoria Gold-Pens aber nicht ungewöhnlich. Nach Meinung von Kennern (u.a. Tom Westerich) handelt es sich um einen Astoria, mit absoluter Bestimmtheit können wir das aber heute nicht mehr sagen. Länge 9,6cm geschlossen und 13,5 cm offen mit Kappe.

1921 verliess einer der führenden MontBlanc Mitarbeiter (ein Herr Ilgner) die Firma und gründete unter dem Namen Astoria Füllfederwerk in Hamburg Bahrenfeld ein neues Unternehmen. Diese Pens sind heute gesucht und nur selten zu finden. Als in den frühen 30er Jahren finanzielle Probleme auftraten kaufte MontBlanc die Firma auf und hat noch vier Jahre lang Füllhalter unter dem Namen Astoria angeboten. Weitere Astoria Pens sind auf Seite 255 in Lambrous "Fountain Pens of the World" abgebildet.

This golden Astoria Safety Pen (probably from the 20s) is in near mint condition, if ever used. No scratches, no dents or else and should be fully funktional. But i haven´t tested. He is marked 585 (14 Ct. Gold) on the clip. There is also a little mark, which i am unable to identify. No logo or manufacturers sign to find, but this is not unusual for those golden Astoria Pens. In opinion of experts (for example Tom Westerich) is it an Astoria, but we see no way to being absolutely sure. Length 9.6cm closed und 13.5 cm open with cap on.

In 1921 one of Simplo´s (MontBlanc) highly skilled workmen called Ilgner left the company and ... founded the Astoria Fuellfederwerk in Hamburg Bahrenfeld. He set out to create the Astoria range of pens, which were very similar in appearance to MontBlancs. The company was initially succesful and export markets were gained especially in Italy. The venture, however, ran into finacial problems during the early 30s. MontBlanc bought it in 1932 and
continued, for the next four years, to offer Astoria models. (from Lambrous "Fountain Pens of the World", see page 255 there for further Astoria pens).
