AUS MEINER PERSÖN- LICHEN  SAMMLUNG:

Übergrosser Hebelüller aus perlgrün und schwarz marmoriertem Radite, wie Sheaffer das von DuPont erfundene Zelluloid nannte. Der Balance, ein Design von W.A.Sheaffers Sohn Craig, war der erste Füller in der Liga der grossen amerikanischen Marken, der von der Zylinderfom wegging und im Stromlinien-verrückten Amerika nach dem Erfolg des ersten Zelluloid-Lifetimes erneut für Furore sorgte.Wieder mussten sich alle Konkurrenten dem wechselnden Publikumsgeschmack anpassen und wieder war Sheaffer der Vorreiter gewesen.

Dieser Füller ist der grösste der Balance-Modellreihe.
Wie üblich zeigt auch dieser Füller die typische Materialverfärbung an Halter und Kappe. Dagegen ist leider kein Kraut gewachsen. Den technischen Hintergrund dazu liefere ich gerne auf Anfrage.
Restauriert mit neuem Gummisack. Rundum nahezu perfekter Oberfläche. Keine Kratzer oder Risse. White Dot ioberhalb des Clips..
Übergrosse Länge geschlossen 14.2 cm, offen 16,5 cm !

Oversize lever filler made of pearl green and back mottled Radite, Sheaffer's name for DuPont's patented cellulose. The Balance, a disgn from W.A.Sheaffer's son Craig, was the first pen of the Big Four to leave the oldfashioned cylinder form behind and becoming the second big success in the Streamline-crazy USA after the success of the Radite Lifetime. Again all competitors were forced to reshape their pens to the changing taste of the public.And again Sheaffer was the first in the line.

This pen is the largest size of the Balance line.
As usual this pen also shows the typical discoloration on cap and barrel. Nothing can be done against it. The technical background can be sent on request.
Restored with new rubber sack.
Nearly perfect surface. No scratches or cracks. White Dot above clip.
Oversize length closed 5 7/8 inches, open nealry 6 1/2 inches !

Diese Sheaffer-Federn sind traditionell sehr dick und daher wenig flexibel, gleiten aber gut über das Papier.
Feder hat einen leichten Riss am Schaftende, der aber die 
Funktion nicht beeinträchtigt (nur unter der Lupe sichtbar).

These Sheaffer nibs are traditionally very thick and therefore not very flexible, but they gide very smoothly over the paper.
The nib has a small crack at the base, which does not affect the funcionality (only seen under magnification)
