Drei Ferrotypien, 1/6 Platte, 6 x 10 cm, schöne kontrastreiches Motive, scharfes, detailreiches Bild. Das erste Bild zeigt einen stattlichen Mann auf einem Stuhl sitzend vor einer typischen gemalten Kulisse. Das zweite Bild zeigt zwei hübsche junge Frauen, das Dritte ist etwas dunkel. Auf ihm ist ein Mann mit Schnäuzer zu sehen. Diese Bilder wirken immer sehr gestellt was aber einfach an den langen Belichtungszeiten von bis zu mehreren Minuten lag. Die Platten sind leicht gewellt, hier und da gibt es Kratzer, was bei diesen alten Photographien fast immer der Fall ist. Die Ferrotypie ist eine frühe Technik der Photographie, die von ca. 1840 an weite Verbreitung fand. Das Bild ist ein Unikat, das heißt, jede Photographie war ein Einzelstück, es konnte noch nicht vervielfältigt werden. Es gab kein Negativ, das Bild selbst war ein Positiv. Obwohl schon ab ca. 1850 das Negativverfahren entwickelt wurde und die Ferrotypie und ähnliche Verfahren zurückdrängte, wurden vor allem in Amerika noch lange Zeit, bis in unser Jahrhundert hinein, Ferrotypien gefertigt. Three very nice Tintypes, 1/6 plate, ca. 1860?
Three tintype, 1/6 plate, 6x10cm, nice and sharp picture with many details. The first photo shows a fine figur of man sitting on a chair and a typical handpainted background. The second shows two nice young women, the third is a little bit dark. A man with a walrus moustache is shown. These persons looks always stiff but the reason are the very long exposure times. They could be some minutes. The plates are a little bit bended, there are some scratches here and there but this is typical for many tintypes. The tintype is an early kind of photographie, used since about 1840. The picture is unique, the photographer could not make more dublicates of this. There is no negativ, only this positiv picture. Since about 1850 it was possible to make negativs and many dublicates of this. But till the end of the century many photograpers made tintypes especialy in the USA. Any questions?
